This project represents the conversion of an existing detached garage into a new Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) with the addition of an outdoor trellis and a comfortable patio seating area designed to enhance the backyard living environment.

The 410 sq. ft. garage structure is being adapted into a compact and functional residential unit while maintaining the scale and character of the existing backyard setting. The design focuses on efficient use of space, creating a comfortable living area with direct access to the outdoor patio.

A new trellis is introduced adjacent to the ADU, forming a shaded outdoor lounge area that visually connects the unit with the surrounding garden. The pergola-style trellis, combined with landscaping and patio seating, creates a relaxed and inviting outdoor environment suitable for everyday use and small gatherings.

Large glass doors help strengthen the connection between the interior and the backyard, allowing natural light to enter the space and extending the living area toward the outdoor patio.

The result is a thoughtfully integrated backyard ADU that combines efficient interior planning with a well-designed outdoor living space, creating a functional and enjoyable extension of the property.
