The project includes a small-scale remodel of the existing residence, primarily focused on improving circulation and enabling the addition of the new unit. As part of this work, an existing breezeway between portions of the home was enclosed, creating approximately 208 sq. ft. of additional interior space that helps connect the new layout while improving functionality within the main structure.

The newly constructed SB9 unit totals approximately 494 sq. ft. and is attached to the primary residence while functioning as a fully independent living space. The compact layout includes a living area, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, carefully organized to maximize usability within a modest footprint.

The design strategy focused on minimal intervention to the existing home while efficiently introducing a new dwelling unit under California’s SB9 regulations. Careful planning of circulation, entries, and spatial organization ensures that both units maintain a sense of privacy and independence.

The overall site arrangement allows the new unit to integrate naturally with the existing house while preserving functional outdoor areas and maintaining a unified architectural language across the property.
