This project features the development of a new single-family residence located in Joshua Tree, designed to fully embrace the surrounding desert environment while maintaining a strong sense of openness, privacy, and connection to nature.
The new residence totals approximately 1,857 sq. ft., with a layout carefully planned to balance open living areas and private spaces. The interior organization prioritizes natural light, clean circulation, and framed views of the desert landscape, creating a calm and grounded atmosphere throughout the home.
In addition to the main dwelling, the project includes a 120 sq. ft. storage structure and a 400 sq. ft. carport, both thoughtfully integrated into the overall composition. These elements remain subtle and functional while aligning with the architectural language of the house.
A defining aspect of the project is the expansive outdoor environment, designed to reflect the lifestyle of Joshua Tree — open, relaxed, and centered around nature. The backyard features multiple wooden deck areas and a newly introduced swimming pool, forming a layered outdoor experience that encourages gathering, отдыха, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
The architectural approach draws heavily from the Joshua Tree desert aesthetic, using natural materials such as wood, stone, and textured plaster to blend the structure into its surroundings. Large openings and sliding doors dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, allowing the home to fully capture the feeling of space, freedom, and quiet that defines the desert.
Overall, the project is a reflection of modern desert living — simple, intentional, and deeply connected to its context — offering a lifestyle that embraces openness, outdoor living, and the unique character of Joshua Tree.
